Ornamental polished slabs of granite have wide applications ranging from use of monumental purposes, fencing, panelling and interior and exterior, skirting, mantels, windows sills, steps, concrete columns, kitchen sinks and bath tubs.
Granite Slabs
The sequence of events which brings natural stone from the quarry to the home has not changed much since stone entered the homes of the ancient Greeks. Large blocks of granite or marble are cut from the quarry. From those blocks, thin pieces of stone are cut called slabs.
Signatures of Granites
Because of its hardness and comparative cheapness in relation to marble, granite is often used to make kitchen countertops. A granite countertop can be cut in any shape, and it is virtually unscratchable.
Kitchen Counters
The central island, positioned asymmetrically in the room, accommodates a structural column and contrasts its verticality with the intersecting planes of the dining and work counters.
Italian Marble
It is advisabe to use a porous material in this area, as bathrooms will always have a high level of humidity. Granite and Italian white marble from the Apuan area are good choices, and Breccia with its compact granularity, as well as other coloured marbles.
Marble Coffee Tables
Natural Stone is turning up more and more often in combination with furniture, e.g. in the kitchen surface, in wash basins, bathrooms, or coffee tables.
